World of Tanks Maus - 9 Kills 10,7K Damage

The Maus is a German tier 10 heavy tank.

Developed from June 1942 through July 1944, with two prototypes produced, only one of which received a turret and armament.

The heaviest (although, thanks to the Type 5 Heavy, no longer biggest) tank in World of Tanks, the Maus is certainly a mammoth tank, with the largest health pool of any other vehicle currently in the game. Combining that immense hitpoint count with some of the thickest tank armor around means that if an enemy vehicles gun lacks any significant penetration capability, fighting the Maus will not go well. However, the lack of sloping anywhere on the tank, except for the frontal armor, can allow tank guns with adequate penetration to punch through the sides and rear with relative ease; even more so if the Maus is not angled properly. Additionally, weaknesses in the frontal armor such as the lower glacis plate are fairly large and can be reliably targeted. Another weakness when engaging this tank from the front is to shoot at its turret "cheeks" because despite their sloped appearance and high armor values, the turret cheeks are mostly flat mid center and will rarely withstand a shell with sufficient penetration. This can be quite difficult to achieve, however, if the driver turns the turret away to angle the armor. In fact, most of the aforementioned weaknesses can be negated by simply positioning the tank in a way that makes incoming shells impact at an angle.

The 12.8cm main gun is similar to the 130mm cannon of the IS-7, dealing the same amount of damage but sacrificing penetration for improved accuracy. The low damage output of the 12.8 cm gun means that the Maus is best served as a team's front line vanguard, forcing a breakthrough and drawing the bulk of enemy fire while it's teammates follow through and return fire back at the attackers. The maneuverability of the Maus is what one would expect from a super heavy tank - slow and cumbersome. This makes the Maus a favored target of artillery although even tier X SPGs will become frustrated when faced with dealing relatively minimal damage to the Maus as opposed to other, less armored tanks. Especially so if the Maus is fitted with reinforced spall liner. Overall the Maus is definitely a front line combatant and should be used as such. Advancing on enemy positions while protecting it's teammates with it's impressive armor will ensure a confident assault and will significantly increase your odds of success.

As of patch 9.17.1, the Maus received a significant buff to its performance. Its turret front became even more armored, allowing for a significantly lesser amount of angling in order to maximize the armor's performance as well as the removal of the glaring track weakspots located behind the "mud flaps" in the front of the tank. The gun of the Maus was not left out in the cold either. It's DPM, dispersion values, accuracy and aim time were all majorly improved. In it's current iteration, the Maus is a tremendous threat to any team and can overrun defenses as well as repel attacks with extraordinary efficiency.

The Maus marks the end of its German heavy line.

World of Tanks Hotchkiss EBR - 6 Kills 5,5K Damage

The Hotchkiss EBR is a French tier 7 light tank.

The development of this armored vehicle was part of the corresponding program approved by the military leaders in 1945. In 1949, the Hotchkiss company presented a three-axis prototype. After the trials, the project was discontinued. The prototype did not survive to the present day.

The Hotchkiss EBR leads to the Panhard AML Lynx 6x6.

World of Tanks T-54 first prototype - 6 Kills 7,3K Damage

The T-54 first prototype is a Soviet tier 8 premium medium tank.

Developed at Factory No. 183 in 1944. It was based on the T-44, with many components modified to enhance the armor and armament of the new vehicle. According to one source, the first prototype was built at the end of 1944. However, some other sources mention another date—January 1945. The tank underwent trials in March and April 1945, but never entered mass production.

World of Tanks Caernarvon - 7 Kills 7,8K Damage

The Caernarvon is a British tier 8 heavy tank.

Development of this infantry support tank started in 1944. The first prototype was ready for trials in 1952. A total of 21 tanks were manufactured but never entered service. Some of the vehicles were later converted into Conqueror heavy tanks.

A big change in the British heavy tank line, the Caernarvon marks the beginning of the "Universal Tank" era of the tree. Therefore, its mobility is much better than that of the Black Prince. However the hull armor is not as thick despite being sloped which is something previous tanks lacked. The top gun is an improvement of the one from its predecessor in terms of aim time, accuracy and rate of fire and has an ideal role for hulldown tactics as its large and well-armoured (269.9mm) gun mantlet can eat most shots tier-for-tier with no consequence. This playstyle has been improved with patch 9.20.1 which upgraded the top gun from a twenty pounder to the 32 pounder.

Unfortunately, it takes quite a while to realize this tank's potential if one has not previously unlocked modules on the British Medium tree. This tank has low alpha damage (280) and weak hull armor - therefore it is absolutely crucial to exploit this tank's strengths to the maximum in order to be successful in it, most notably its incredibly high rate of fire combined with tough turret and nice gun depression. When played to its strengths, this tank can indeed be fearsome and after the latest buffs in patch 9.20.1 it is now widely considered to be among the best tier 8 heavy tanks.
